• Pet food refers to specially formulated food for animals kept as pets — dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits, rodents, etc. 

• A “complete and balanced” pet food contains all the nutrients a pet needs (proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, etc.) for its daily health baseline

• There are different forms of pet food: dry (kibble), wet (canned/pouched), semi‑moist, and sometimes fresh or homemade (if properly balanced)
